Safe, comfortable dental extractions when needed

Removing a tooth isn’t a decision worth taking lightly. The integrity and health of every tooth impacts the ones around it. As long as an option exists to restore or treat a damaged tooth, preservation is usually the best option.

However, sometimes it’s in the best interest of our patients to recommend a dental extraction. For safe, comfortable tooth extractions in Santa Rosa, contact our trusted dental office.

Dr. Sutton may prefer removing a tooth if the situation involves:

Relaxing, Gentle Dental Extractions

Dental extractions range from simple to surgical. As a Fellow with the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, Dr. Sutton provides comprehensive in-house sedation dentistry for our patients. It’s our mission to provide a relaxing and pain-free environment, whether you need a tooth removed or something more complex. You deserve to feel comfortable at all times. Here at Santa Rosa Dentistry and Implant Center, you can rest assured that will always be the case.

If you don’t need or want sedation, we’ll still thoroughly numb the area immediately around your tooth with a local anesthetic. The only thing you should feel is a bit of pressure while the tooth is being removed. Anesthetic (numbing medication) typically takes a few hours to wear off, leaving you with plenty of time to make yourself comfortable at home. Dr. Sutton will provide you with detailed home care instructions to ensure a straightforward recovery.

Replacing Missing/Extracted Teeth

Losing a tooth can lead to a chain reaction throughout your mouth. To preserve ideal tooth alignment, we highly recommend replacing the tooth as quickly as possible. Available therapies include dental implants, bridges, and partials. With extensive training and recognition in full mouth rehabilitation, Dr. Sutton will guide you through the selection process to co-plan your care together.

Failing to replace an extracted tooth will ultimately contribute to functional concerns like TMJ issues, tooth movement, and even decay or periodontal disease. Investing in a long-term solution like dental implants can help to preserve the function of the other teeth in your mouth.

Should I Have My Tooth Pulled?

During your exam with our Santa Rosa dentist, we’ll take a 3D x-ray of your tooth and the immediate surrounding area. With this visual data, we’ll be able to determine the best route of care for your compromised tooth. If a filling, crown, or root canal therapy is not appropriate, an extraction is recommended.

Sometimes same-day extraction is required (in the instance of emergencies) while others are pre-planned and a therapeutic step in smile reconstruction. As we plan your care, you’ll receive a treatment outline that lists the steps involved.

Contact Santa Rosa Dentistry and Implant Center today to reserve an appointment. We’ll be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
